Digital ID is being sneaked in everywhere. It started a long time ago. “Verify your identity here,” “upload your driver’s licence here,” “scan your face at the airport” - these are all procedures that are not exactly new. But where does this actually go?

In some countries, you cannot use the internet without uploading your ID. Of course, it is important that kids do not go to sites they should not go to. However, it should be the parents’ responsibility, not the government’s. Every time you give up responsibility, you give up freedoms.

Imagine your digital ID being connected to a social credit system, to your Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), to carbon credits, or even to supermarket rations.

Imagine you try paying for a steak, but at the till the system says no because you bought one this week already and your carbon credit account won’t allow it.

That is not some sci-fi scenario. No, that is what is being implemented all over China, and in many places, these systems are already in use.

We have an inherent aversion to this in the West, and we cannot be babysat by so-called leaders who have a terrible need to be needed - but not in a good way.

Of course, we need law and order, but only because we haven’t found them within ourselves. If we know and truly understand what self-governance means, we can reject regulatory technocracy and live in true freedom.
